2 April - Painting Joy! Loose flowers by hand.

New! [Acrylics. Beginners/ improvers]

In life there is lots to control, our finances, emotions, the weeds! etc etc; art can give us a place to get lost in an activity, to play, to explore, to relax, to breathe, to think. Joy and happiness tend to occur when we are fully in the moment, really experiencing all we sense. Painting by hand allows us to get involved viscerally with the material, feeling the acrylic slide and blend between our fingers, as we suggest details with the simplest of gestures.

This is not kiddy hand painting, oh no! We have to first learn the basics of composition and where to simplify and blend in subtle shades and where to be more sophisticated in the painting. We'll learn a new language of mark making and finally pulling it all together with finishing details, allowing these gorgeous flowers to emerge as you dance across the canvas. This is expressive art at it’s best: you can follow my demonstration or branch out on your own.

You can get as messy as you like or wear thin rubber gloves as you get stuck in to this enjoyable process. You may want to work in thin layers or thicker impasto. You'll be amazed at what you can achieve with your hands, and if anything goes awry there’s no quicker tool than the hand to correct it!

So whether you want to experience mindfulness painting or practice your ‘Being brave’ looser painting skills, don’t miss this unusual workshop!
