A 4 week course starting on Thursday 8 May from 1:30pm to 4:00pm.
Memoir is becoming one of the most popular genres right now as we reflect on our lives past and navigate our way forward in pretty challenging times. Memoir is very different to Autobiography (which tends to give an account of a whole life, like a literary Wikipedia) Memoir focuses more on slices of our lives. Memoir embraces our emotional journeys and experiences: relationships, place, themes of loss and wild joy. As Socrates said 'The unexamined life is not worth living.'
Join us for a fascinating journey into memoir writing. We will practise a variety of writing techniques, and discuss and share our writing in a safe space. This course is open to anyone and everyone. We all have a story to tell and its how we tell it that matters in writing.
Bio of Julie: I have taught English language and literature in different parts of the world, particularly in Zimbabwe where I am from. I love short non-fiction writing and am working on my memoir. I have run several writing retreats in Zimbabwe and Cambridge, and love the sharing of creativity these courses offer.
