About Helen Matthews

I discovered a love of glass fusing by chance through a friend who suggested I tried a taster course. From that moment I was hooked. As my passion grew, I was eager to learn new techniques and experiment. Having realised a lifelong dream to settle in South Devon, my pieces are influenced by the things I love; The seaside, coast, flowers and nature.

Every piece is unique and hand crafted in my Brixham studio. The textures created give my work a tactile element as well as visual fun. I hope they make you smile.

This exhibition is a snapshot of my work from fun penguins and seagulls to more contemporary work such as the Forest Series. I leave much of my wall art unglazed so you can enjoy the textures of the glass. All unglazed frames are made at home by my husband.

When not creating in my studio, or out and about at events, I enjoy walking with my four miniature Schnauzers, or studio assistants, who often feature on my social media feeds.
